halloween babygrow with name

Halloween Section Now Live!

So Autumn is here and as I write it’s raining non-stop. George is asleep and with nowhere for me to go in this weather I thought I’d turn my hands to the next holiday – Halloween!

In previous years I have had the ‘First Halloween’ Personalised Babygrow in my collection and as I was getting the homepage ready I suddenly had a brainwave to make the same babygrow but simplify it with just a name and ta dah – Halloween Cat and Pumpkin Personalised Babygrow was born!

halloween babygrow backLoving the design I was unsure which babygrow to promote I turned to my trusty Facebook Page and my followers where I did a poll to which 75% preferred the new version! I decided to keep both for sale to give customers a choice. Both babygrows feature the ‘cheeky’ pumpkin design on the back – who can resist?!

Joining the collection is the Glitter Sugar Skull Tote Bag – the bag with attitude as I like to call it. Not just for Halloween but I’ve had this design for some time and never added it to the site so I thought why not launch it with the Halloween babygrows? There’s something cool about a sugar skull – it’s almost like a friendlier version than some of the more sinister skulls – yes I am a wimp! Combine this with real glitter vinyl for a look that’s really special.

I absolutely love this vinyl – as the name says it looks like glitter but what you can’t see on screen is the texture – just like rubbing your hands on real glitter and it doesn’t come off all over your skin! In fact, this stuff is tried and tested as I’ve used it for a local Nail Technician’s uniform and she’s washed and washed it and it still looks as good as the day I pressed it!

So that is the collection, yes I know it’s only 3 items but remember I am just me! Hopefully I can build on this and add a few more pieces to the collection for next Halloween! VISIT HALLOWEEN SECTION HERE.

Bye for now, Anita x

We’re having a baby!

We’re going to be closing the shop for a while as we have a new bundle of joy on its way due 29th March!

This week will be the last week for orders with the last day being Sunday 11th March.

We’re not quite sure yet when we will re-open with adjusting to life with a newborn and an energetic 3 year old, but we will be working on lots of new products behind the scenes ready for an exciting comeback! If there’s anything in particular you’d like to see us making and selling then please do get in touch via email or social media.

Last question for now is…will the baby be a boy or a girl? Can’t wait to find out – we’ll keep you posted!

Thank you to you all for your custom and we look forward to being back online soon!

Lots of love, Anita xx

In the Press – Wedding Countdown Chalkboard

Scottish Wedding Directory (SWD) have featured our Wedding Countdown Chalkboard in their October-December issue.

The planning section of the magazine gives ideas to brides on how they can plan their big day and they highlight our Wedding Countdown Chalkboard for helping to keep track of how many sleeps until the wedding.

We make every Wedding Countdown Chalkboard here in our studio from solid pieces of pine which are painted and stencilled by hand and finished off with a hand painted MDF heart.

We’re changing direction!

It’s with sadness that we announce that we’re leaving the furniture painting side of the business behind, but with great excitement that we are moving on to focus all of our efforts on personalised gift ware.

We’ve been painting and selling furniture since 2013 as well as completing commission pieces for numerous clients across Nottingham and Derby. We have been operating the furniture and gift ware sides of the business consecutively for some time now and feel we should become more streamlined to offer our customers the best possible service and creative products.

We do however have other talented painting contacts within the area who may be able to help so please let us know and we can put you in touch!

We’ll soon be launching a new website where you can buy all of our latest creations online 247 along with some special offers. Watch this space!

Commission furniture painting project -cream sideboard

We normally have a stock of unpainted furniture ready for commissioning. Rebecca asked us whether we had a sideboard and this is what we presented her with:

Rebecca needed to use her vision here as we knew that this cumbersome art deco style sideboard needed a lick of paint to brighten it up. Rebecca chose a grey/cream colour and we set to rejuvenating this lovely hand carved piece. Definitely one of our biggest transformations the sideboard was barely recognisable:

We gave the sideboard a coat of wax and distressed for a rustic country look which brought out the hand carvings beautifully. We retained the original brass handles painting them to tie in with the rest of the piece. We even lined the drawers with this gorgeous French style fabric.

Rebecca was delighted with the end result, a huge difference between its previous dark appearance.

Our commission furniture painting service available across Nottingham and Derby. To enquire about our current stock of unpainted furniture or if you have a piece you’d like us to look at contact us we’d love to hear from you!

Commission furniture painting project – white distressed bedside cabinets

Sarah-Jane was moving house and had been given a set of bedside cabinets, but they didn’t match any of the decor. These bedside cabinets were solid wood but modern pieces of furniture unlike the majority of projects we have undertaken so far.

Sarah-Jane was after a rougher finish therefore we painted both cabinets with a wax/white chalk paint mix, distressed and finished off with another layer of clear wax for sealing and protection. Sarah-Jane didn’t want the handles replacing however we suggested we painted them to blend in with the rest of the piece.

Sarah-Jane was so pleased with her bedside cabinets and now the match with her new home.

Commission furniture painting project – graphite coffee table with white underlay

Liz was so pleased with the nest of tables and China cabinet we painted for her that when her mum offered her an old coffee table she accepted knowing she was going to ask us at The Little Handcrafted Company to paint it for her.

Her living room was silver and black and Liz had already decided she didn’t want everything to be too ‘matchy’ therefore we suggested a graphite chalk paint teamed with white to give the graphite a lift as this was quite a dark room.

A dark, uber shiny piece however excellent quality, we painted an underlay with white, painted graphite over the top and once dry sanded through patches to reveal the white. This made a lovely, unique effect. We then waxed the table all over to seal and protect the finish.

Liz was over the moon with her new look coffee table and the fact that she has another unique piece of furniture that nobody else will have, her mum even joked that she would have the table back!

Commission furniture painting project – grey distressed nest of tables

Jack painted his nest of tables first white, then grey and still wasn’t happy with the colour. The grey had a tint of blue, Jack asked us to take a look though the colour and different layers of paint may not be very clear from the picture.

Our grey chalk paint is simply grey with no blue whatsoever, we painted all tables neatly. Distressing was a lot more difficult than usual due to the number of coats of paint applied previously therefore we had to use a power sander. We then varnished the tops as Jack needed a tough finish as the tables are used regularly.

The nest of tables now match in well with Jack’s living room. We even painted his pine mirror to match! Not only do we receive requests to paint bare furniture but we also get asked to look at pieces our clients have attempted and weren’t quite happy with.

We offer our furniture painting service across the areas of Nottingham and Derby, contact us for further information or a personalised quote.
